When filled to just under max line the kettle has a tendency to boil over if picked up immediately after auto switch off causing boiling water to surge from spout and lid over kettle and worktop which is potentially dangerous
David NNoisy kettle. Hard to clean out the scale... very flimsy kettle switch. Not as good as the original a few years ago.
JSDe'MarcoLoved the style and colour. Unfortunately the kettle wasn’t getting to full boiling point meaning instant coffee wasn't dissolving and leaving hot drinks tasting not quite right. It’s also very heavy when full - and there’s another issue. The external water gauge starts at 4 cups - anything less is a guess or the fiddley cup counter inside the kettle - meaning you have to take the lid off to fill the kettle.Very disappointed. Kettle returned. Won’t buy this brand again.
DiOver boils the water, sometimes doesn’t cut out at all so you return to a room full of steam. It replaced an Asda kettle that looked identical but did the same thing leading me to believe they came off the same factory line but with a premium for having Russell Hobbs brand on it.
Andy RussellI bought this kettle as a present for my husband as he wanted a quiet kettle. At first it was quiet but this didn't last long, it very quickly became as noisy as our old kettle. And now it doesn't boil properly, we have to switch it on twice in order to have boiling water. This is not what we expected from Russel Hobbs. We have only had this kettle for 18 months.
margaret nashHad previous RH kettle for 6 years and loved it, so bought another when sadly my old one died in January this year (2020). I live on my own, so kettle not overly used, yet 3 months on it doesn't switch off once boiled and if left unattended the kitchen is a sauna!! New design is also disappointingly heavier than previous model (due to quick boil plate inside) and doesn't boil any quicker. Once water has boiled, if you pour too quickly it splutters everywhere, which is very dangerous!! Please can you advise how I can organise a replacement or refund.
Miss L EdwardsThis kettle is branded as Russell Hobbs, but we've also had this kettle before branded as Morphy Richards.Whoever it is that's actually making them and these two brands are buying them from, they need to stop. This is the second kettle of this design that we have had, and both have packed up after 4-5 months. The latest one (pictured) developed a ghostly whine (quiet boil my left foot!) before it finally gave up the....well, ghost. We looked after it properly and descaled it regularly.Cannot recommend.
Ruth ScammellHad nothing but problems with ours. First one worked for a few months then stopped turning itself off so would turn the kitchen into a steam room. Russell Hobbs sent a replacement and this intermittently wouldn't turn itself off and now turn's off every time after 15 seconds so the water never boils. Russell Hobbs don't offer warranty on their replacement so it's completely useless. Between the 2 sent got less than 1 years use out of them. In my opinion very poor quality and a waste of money.
Mr C J BroadhurstThere's good and bad with this kettle. It is VERY quiet, no denying that. The design is also good on the eye. However, it has a tendency to kind of explode boiling water from the spout if you try to pour immediately after boiling.Leave it 10 seconds or so and it's fine.
AndyReplacement kettle after another brand stopped working. Liked the shape online as similar to last one. Upon receipt found quality of handle disappointing and plasticy looking. The water when boiled tasted odd. Read other reviews and have taken advice to remove red plastic level meter inside and the odd taste disappeared. Great to be able to resolve so easily eventually, but disconcerting and concerned about possible health repercussions. I expected more from Russell Hobbs. Having said all this, the kettle boils quickly and is quiet.
Amazon CustomerBut- Added a weird chemical taste to my tea for the first few months. (still sort of does, just less noticeable). This is even with 4 people using it multiple times a day.- The handle is awful, you have to take care not to scorch your hand
Alan KeenStarts off quiet boiling after 1day (8 boils) goes just as noisy as any kettle! Also dosent allways cut off n boils over which is dangerous,Very dissapointed with This For How Much It Cost! Returned For Better Swan Kettle
CLIVEYI really regret buying this. It looks great & handles well but the awful taste of the boiled water after months of hoping it would go away means I need to get rid of it. I’ve tried every different idea to get rid of the strange taste but nothing has worked. It also is not that quiet.
Amazon CustomerI paid extra for this model which is suppose to be a quiet boil well after a month it became louder and louderin fact its now so noisy I have to walk out of the area. The reason I needed this type of kettle is I surfer from tinnitus and I can not hear over the kettle boiling so and my tinnitus becomes unbearable.i have now read other reviews from buyers online who are saying the same thing, so be warned.
AWRLovely looking kettle, quiet and easy to pour. I overcame the taste problem by removing the filter and cleaning it well before replacing it. However, it does not turn off very quickly when it reaches boiling point.
deborah hoskinI’ve looking, quiet kettle.I removed the internal plastic measure as reviewers advised and the water tastes fine.Paint peels around the lid so it soon looks tatty so 2 stars off.
WatfordDaveHad this kettle for a few weeks now. Taste on tea, so as one customer suggested I took out the red inside thing. Still taste on tea. So now I do not use the kettle, I use a saucepan of water to have a cuppa. Never known a kettle to do this before.
WiggyThe cable is too short so if your work top is deep and you are short it is difficult to use and dangerous especially when water is boi
Ms D WainBought this kettle two weeks ago and has a metallic taste tryed boiling it over and over again. Read some reviews and some people says try bicarbonate of soda so i did and the taste is still there . Can't return it as i don't have the box and can't use the kettle have to buy another one .
Ama hStruggled with this kettle for a week trying various methods suggested on-line to rectify the situation including removing the plastic cup measure inside, leaving overnight filled with water/bicarbonate of soda, etc. etc. Would not have purchased this product had we realised there is an on-going issue with the taste and smell of water boiled in it. It is disgusting. Tea is undrinkable. However, continuing to research for an alternative as this isn't apparently an issue exclusive to the Russell Hobbs brands. Purchased this kettle to replace a Dualit we'd had for many years, but it seems their products aren't immune to this either. Currently reverting to kettle on the hob.
