the locking mechanism is very poor. does not lock at all and this is awkward when trying to take a photo as it slips out of focus.

Excellent... if you know what you're doing!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

If you understand photography, and know what you are buying, you will be very pleased with this lens. The build quality is excellent and the image quality is certainly better than I expected for the price. My only real criticism of the lens would be weight... it's heavy, and ideally needs to be tripod mounted, but the weight does reflect the build quality so I guess you have to partially forgive this criticism. My main advice if you're considering buying this lens is to know what you're buying! If you don't know what your doing and are hoping to fit this on your camera, put in Auto and start taking snapshots of Squirrels at the bottom end of the garden, you will be disappointed. You need to understand how the lens (and your camera) operate in manual mode, and what "aperture" and "focal length" actually mean, or you will just be wasting your time and money!Attached photo was taken at Chester zoo using this lens on a Nikon D7100.

Telescopic lens for Nikon D40
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Despite stating that it was suitable for the Nikon D40 SLR camera, when it came to using the lens although it fitted the aperture, when the trigger was depressed an error message " Lens not fitted " appeared in the view finder. Therefore I was disappointed that is was unsuitable for use with my camera!!

great images

For the cost this is a really cheap lens - you loose a little on the fine quality and speed of shutter and low light is a problem and the only real issue i found was holding the lens still enough during shooting - extra bracing due to the length and weight was required - once that was solved everything was fine

not my cup of tea
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The info was misleading its only MF Not AF/MF as advertised the sliding focus gear has a poor locking device so it moves as you take your shot which finishes out of focus Quality is good but design is poor and its far too heavy, could only be used on a robust static tripod no use for birds in flight may be OK for scoping not my cup of tea sorry Donald

Product Description

When using on digital SLR (e.g. Nikon D40, D40x, D50, D60, D70, D70s, D80, D90, D100, D200, D300, D5000, D2Xs) a SUPERTELE with an equivalent focal distance of 975mm-1950mm results due to the extension of the focal distance by 1,5! (Or rather 1950mm-3900mm with optional 2x converter)

The walimex pro Telezoom Lens has an unusually long focal distance range of 650-1300mm at a speed of 1:8.0-16 (depending on focal distance). The sturdy metal casing and the high-quality coated glass lenses ensure a good image quality. The internal focusing (i.e. the front lens does not turn while focusing) enables the unproblematic use of polarising and graduated filters. With the help of the sturdy tripod mount ring the lens can be fastened to a tripod with an optimised balance point (because of the long focal distance we recommend the use of a tripod in order to achieve vibration-free exposure). With a comparatively short closest focusing distance of only 5 metres, the lens enables a sensational magnification at 1300mm. Focusing takes place manually. The lens can be used with aperture priority and manual exposure setting. Thanks to the easy handling, the lens is also especially suitable for beginners.

* Important note: Please consider, that on the Nikon models D40, D50, D70, D70s, D80, D90 and D100 the build-in exposure measurement does not work in connection with MF lenses. The exposure measuring must be effected external. All other analogue and digital Nikon models support the exposure measurement and aperture priority with this lens.
