Great for video recording not for photos.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Picture quality is poor compared to smartphones but video recording is a different story. Video recording is absolutely amazing and has been used in sea, sand, ect.. Setting up is so so. Got a dreadful time recently when setting it up with Android phone. Had to reset the camera and the day after, connected to iPhone and its was done in a few minutes. Odd. Overal great product.

Love the size, love the quality, great value for money. You pair with your phone so you can see what the camera is seeing and you do your set up for speeds etc BUT as soon as you start recording you can no longer see the video on the phone so you just have to hope that you are pointing in the right place. Tip: if you are using this on a bike or anything with wind noise, cut out a bit of "Fur" from a toy and glue it like a little Mahican over the Mic. It cuts out a lot of the wind but you can still hear the cursing :-)

Good camera, awful battery.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a really good camera, crystal clear video quality and the high frame rates are nice for action shots. Why only three stars? The battery is atrocious, I'll get a warning that the battery is empty and it'll shut itself off but then when I plug it in to charge it'll say that the battery is at 75%! So apparently it can only utilise ~25% of its charge. It doesn't seem to hold a charge well either, it often discharges itself after just a few days of disuse. On a good day you can get maybe 30-45 minutes of recording done before the battery craps out, and the worst part is you can't replace it.

Be warned, Inferior product.

Started to malfunction 2 weeks after the 30 day return window. I have another go pro Hero, bought directly from a retail outlet that is still functioning perfectly after 18 months! This one has already started to malfunction. Push buttons not responding. Screen info locking. Not filming. Not at all suitable for the purpose it was designed. Batter to Pay a bit more, and get what you expect from a GoPro Hero your and have a full 1 year warranty.

This is a must read for those who have connection issues when they first receive this item.I first switched it on and tried to pair with my iPhone. It would initially pair up but then when I changed the name of the camera to "mysession1" in the bluetooth devices list on my phone it would not update the name and therefore was unable to connect. I reset the wifi and also removed all items from my bluetooth list on my phone. The fix was actually deleting the GoPro app on my iPhone and then when I reinstalled it and tried again it worked1. If it fails to change name in set up (on bluetooth device list) - Press forget this device on the gopro listed on your phone2. Then delete the GoPro app from your phone3. Reinstall the GoPro app to your phone4. As the app is reinstalling (reset the GoPro's wifi settings - not sure if this helped but was more so just to cover it)5. Then try again - wake the GoPro up and get to app wifi pairing - then pair, change name and connect via the iPhone bluetooth listI actually sent the first one of these back as the Amazon expert said it may be malfunctioning but the above worked for me.

Bring Back the Hero session 4 !
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Unbelievably good.... lens is amazing... video footage from behind the windscreen of my Motorbike was EPIC! clear.. sharp focus near and far at the same time... only let down is the microphone...which at speed..struggles to cope with wind noise...A steal at £150.... sadly now no longer available.. unless you spend twice as much on one thats a tiny bit better...!

Buggy camera with poor customer support
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Bought the camera primarily for creating a timelapse of a roadtrip for which it failed spectacularly. It regularly shut down by itself, took tens of seconds to start recording at times and frequently froze. By the end of recording even short sessions it was worryingly hot to touch as well. Through in the fact that the camera does not connect to any computer that I've tried it on (3 operating systems across 4 computers is a pretty good sample, yeah?) and I reckon I've got a faulty GoPro. It'd be nice if I could return it or contact GoPro in any reasonable manner. After 30 days you can no longer return it via amazon (I was under the impression returns were open the length of the warranty, my fault there I guess), you have to call or IM GoPro during business hours only. I've tried IM dozens of times to always be met with a "Try again later" message with no queue system or when to try again later. Phone calls have so far led to service reps who blame the SD Card (I tried several, the main ones exceed GoPros minimum standards), tell me to update the firmware (it came with the newest firmware...) and will e-mail further troubleshooting. Which is where I'm currently at, waiting on the troubleshooting e-mail.The camera I have is laggy, buggy and unconnectable to PC. I've probably gotten a faulty unit but GoPro are a complete pain to communicate with. Considering the hype around them I expected far better. If I get a fix for my unit I'll update the review but as it is I can't give it more than a single star. It's not fit for purpose and getting help is next to impossible. Also, after a single drop from hip height onto tarmac my unit has several paint scrapes and a couple of dents in the metal exterior. The lens thankfully is perfectly fine. For an action camera though I was shocked at how easily it is cosmetically damaged though.

Bought it for my motorcycle and found it was recording upside down despite fitting it the right way up. Turns out this little cube has a brain and because my bike is on a side stand when I turn the GoPro on it compensates for being on at a tilted angle. So now I fit the GoPro to the bike but don't turn it on until I am upright and off of the side stand and then it records the right way up.Good video definition with a very clear picture - haven't read all of the instructions yet (which you can get from the GoPro website) but the battery lasts for about two hours before it needs charging.

Not just hype

This is a great action camera, at least at its current price (I admit the original price was too expensive for what it is). Works great as an action camera for videos and photos (think Lomo, as there is no screen). It also works perfectly as a car dash cam.Its main advantages are being very small and inconspicuous, water tight without using a shell and very easy to mount/place where you want it. Image quality with good lighting is very good for a sensor of this size. While it obviously does not have the image quality of the bigger, more expensive GoPro cameras, it's completely acceptable considering this is an action camera and not meant to create professional-grade video footage (see Youtube videos for reference). It's definitely a lot better than the quality of most actions cameras of similar price. The Session is a lot more robust and nicely finished than most action cameras at its price, which are usually more plasticky and cheap-looking. This is a very nicely finished camera, all parts look and feel good and sturdy.Battery life is good considering the camera's size - I use it at 1080p 25 fps and I get about 1,5 to 2 hours of continuous footage, which is pretty good. Turning on the wi-fi function or raising the fps value seems to drain the battery a lot faster, but that is to be expected. You cannot replace the battery, which is a minus and probably the only thing I do not like about this cam (there is a second battery system you can attach to the camera, but that defeats the purpose of the unit, in my opinion). All in all, this is a great little action camera and I recommend it.
