Incredible camera
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

An absolute beast of a camera, great image quality and versatility, incredible capability in low light and incredibly cinematic. Would recommend stocking up on batteries and only use SD cards, nor micro SDs as its prone to overheating at times. Would recommend to any filmmakers regardless of budget. Also comes with Davinci 16 which in my opinion is one of the best non linear editors out there.

Don't fall for the hype
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I owned a BMPCC 4k... but returned it when the battery door first failed to latch and then fell off in two pieces (due to a common manufacturing error). However this is not the main issue. I thought the dynamic range was lacking, and did not find the 10bit ProRes images robust enough in post. But worse, there were image artifacts occurring such as what seemed to be visible sensor-array pixel pattern showing up in bright specular highlights, banding in the noise and other ugliness. BRAW was not out at the time though. Its good, but it's flawed.

Game changer

It's very frustrating reading the negative reviews on here. Both were posted before the camera was released and are completely fruitless 1 star comments. Really is a shame that fanboys of other cameras feel the need to rate down an awesome product just because they are scared it might be superior to their favorite!

Anyway review time.

Pros:
- 4k 60fps DCI RAW: This is unheard of at this price point (£1100 max, don't overpay).
- Picture quality: It is near enough as good as larger full frame cinema cameras, the colour science is insane. Blackmagic have nailed it here.
- Recording formats: RAW and ProRES. RAW is incredibly versatile for editing, and ProRES is about as streamlined as it gets. My old outdated computer cuts through 4k ProRES like it's butter.
- Ease of use: The interface, everything, just great!

Cons:
- Battery life: it sucks, but the batteries are cheap and plentiful so either find an external battery solution or bring spares!
- no in camera stabilisation/autofocus: These are subjective depending on your uses. This is a cinema camera so realistically you shouldn't need these things anyway, but if you're coming from a DSLR or another mirrorless you might miss them.

Overall this camera can't be beaten for the price. It's an absolute monster and produces the best images I've ever seen from a camera in the <5k range. It's untouchable right now.

Blackmagic Design's Pocket Camera was a tiny powerhouse that set the bar for small form factor cameras, but as times have gone on, the need for 4K is here and Blackmagic are delivering.

The Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is the logical leap forward for this line of cameras, bringing stunning 4K video, with 13 stops of dynamic range and 4/3 size sensor, with an added boost with a dual native ISO up to 25, 600.

But 4K isn't everything without HDR support, bringing vibrant colours and accurate blacks onto yours and your audience's screens, enhancing the viewing experience to the maximum.

Ideal for shooting quick vlogs, web videos and expos or corporate videos, as well as producing high quality video when shooting sports or independent films, the footage is captured in RAW format and backed by Blackmagic's colour science. This allows the Pocket Cinema Camera to rival massive, expensive cameras that cost thousands, while being easily mixed into projects using other cameras.

The Pocket Camera is as it sounds: tiny. This gives you far more portability, allowing you to get more unique shots on projects or even when in tight studio spaces. Just because it's small, doesn't mean it isn't packing, as Blackmagic have fitted it with a 5" screen, 4 built in microphones and recorders. There's also all the buttons that you'd need, letting quickly get a hold of framing, focus, audio and file management.

Inside is Blackmagic's 4K Digital Film Sensor, giving you a full 4/3 sensor to eliminate harsh crop factors and gives you a wider field of view. With the help of the sensor, you can record stunning 4K video at 60fps or a huge 120fps in windows HD. The sensor also helps in lowlight situations, giving you excellent performance when under the strains of a lack of light, which when combined with its Dual ISO, gives you a fairly decent image even in the darkest of places
