Krups Dolce Gusto Movenza Silver Coffee MachineNot a coffee drinker I thought I would give the Krups Dolce Gusto Movenza machine a try. It is long and narrow in shape and takes up nearly all the width of the worktop. My main difficulty is getting the water container out of the back of the machine. You have to slide the handle out and pull the water container out, because of the shape of the machine I find this extremely awkward and have to turn the whole machine around to gain access to the back of the machine. I saw reviews that said they found it difficult to put the water container back in but it became easier with practice. I have found it never becomes easier to put it water container back into the machine and I struggle each time. It is very easy to use button wise. It makes a spurting noise when first starting. It is very quick and makes a decent cup of coffee. The “Extra” level button is very useful it means you can add more water if you want a weaker coffee. I like the Chia Tea Latte the best. Not a bad price for what it does, quite a good machine. I would try one with easier access to the water container next time.

Lets start with the stars first.It looses one because it does not have any kind of visual water level indicator, when it runs out of water it just sits there sulking flashing all its lights.It looses another because it does not really do another better than one that costs a third the price I paid for this.It looses the third star as the pods are a pain to use (This is slightly unfair as is true of all pods and not just this machine So half a star). However it looses another half star as you never get a drink as pretty as the pictures.My main problem with this device (and I admit it is my own fault as I have never tried one before so did not know what to expect) is the pods, aside from the fact they are an environmental disaster (I was prepared for this in return for some tasty coffee). Basically you shove one in the machine, it squirts hot water through them then you take them out. Problem is they are still full of hot water and the remains of whatever was in them to start with (in summary very watery coffee and/or milk). What to do with them? Can not put them in the bin as they leak and cause a mess, can not put them on the counter for the same reason, put them in the sink (like we used to do with old tea bags) but unlike the teabags they do not dry up the liquid stays in the pod only leaking when moved. The unit did come with a small bowl for this purpose but it only hold around four pods and also needs cleaning as they leak in to that as well.So far my solution (still a work in progress) to stop my bin having a watery coffee flavoured puddle at the bottom of it is to dump the used pod out of the machine into the supplied bowl, wait for them to cool down, take them to the sink cut open the top and drain the pod completely before finally putting them in the bin. The faff of cleaning of the bowl, sink and cutting open each pod rather takes the joy out of instant coffee drink.
