Unfortunately, the temperature reading is not consistent. The indicated temperature jumps by about 2 degrees centigrade when significant light falls on the solar panel. The reading is pretty accurate in dim light but drops when energy is being generated by the solar cell. Given that the prime purpose of the device is to indicate a reasonably accurate / consistent temperature, this is unacceptable. Other reviews have mentioned this issue but I was hoping they just happened to have faulty units - apparently not. I've returned my thermometer.

Bad points:
Unless bought at a discount (I'd been lucky and got about 66% off) it is a bit expensive compared to other 'solar' powered thermometers - but they need to be bought via China/Japan and you can't be really sure what you'll end up with.

On the whole it works OK (and agrees well enough with another thermometer). However, the indicated temperature can jump by as much as 2 degrees C if the solar cell is covered briefly (and then jumps back immediately when it is uncovered). As it did not cost too much I cannot complain too much.
