Constancy would be wonderful
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

While this system provided all the readings we require in the beginning and most of the time since, it has proved disappointing. Unfortunately it has developed a tendency to lose connection with the external sensors. The signal can be recovered by reconnecting but the signal is lost again within a short time even though the batteries are all in good order.

Is beauty skin deep.........?
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The Bresser weather station has the advantage that it's been well designed, and it looks good and compares well with the one other predominate device available. In particular, the anemometer is also easier to install and it likely to stay where you put it, and it looks considerably more elegant than the alternative. I had previously bought a Pro Wireless Weather Station with PC interface which recorded the weather accurately but overall was hopelessly designed and lasted two weeks before strong wind dismantled it. I wasn't too upset because it was so ugly.

But is beauty only skin deep? I'll ignore the fact that my outdoor temperature readings aren't correct (a new sensor is needed) and instead focus on the user interface. It's just not very good. It's neither intuitive or comprehensive, and requires the constant use of the user manual to get the most out of. Having got used to the intuitive interface of the Pro Wireless model, this is most irritating. The display isn't quite as clear, either, but on balance I'm happy with the product.

Top tip: If you want an accurate wind direction recorded, choose a spot away from the turbulence of the immediate built environment. And with this model, it's important to know your cardinal points otherwise you'll end up assembling it, like I did, with a figure that is 180 degree wrong.

On balance, I'm happy with this

Other models are better designed to show everything at a glance, and this just doesn't - it's clumsy.

A little bit finicky to set up in the first place, but easy to read and understand. Useful household gadget!
