The suction power is just average
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I had high hopes for this vacuum cleaner but was quite disappointed. You get two vacuum clean heads and it was nice to see a sturdy metal tubing compared to plastic one that can break. However I found that the suction power was merely average and personally think it should be more powerful considering the price. The reel cord to retract the plug also isn’t very strong and it took a lot of coaxing to feed the wire back in. The bagless container Takes two hands to empty which isn’t a problem per se but more of an inconvenience. There is a dial on the unit to adjust the suitability of the vacuum to what you are cleaning but didn’t seem to make a huge difference. All in all I wouldn’t particularly recommend this but it does work okay

a great vacuum for a small home
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

this is a very good option for a vacuum for a smaller home. the cable is not particularly long, and so going from room to room can be difficult in larger spaces. vacuuming on the stairs can be difficult, but is manageable. this was very effective at sucking up most pieces of debris that would end up on the fall and emptying was very clean and straight forward. it is not silent, but is by no means terribly loud. all in all, a good contender for a cos effective, small vacuum.

Superb agility and suction - lightweight too
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I am very, very impressed with this vacuum cleanerI got it to replace my old AEG vacuum which uses a bag and the difference in performance is incredible. The power of this model is very impressive and amount of dust and dirt that it picks up on a seemingly clean carpet is immense. It works just as well on laminate and rugs as on carpet, and despite this, it is incredibly quiet and the space in the bag less cylinder is impressive. The length on the power cable is impressive and i liked the green and red dots on it letting you know when you were at the limit of the cable's length. It also has an automatic wind back function, which works really well every time I use it. The hose length is also impressive, and the pole end is easy to extend and shorten. The interchangeable heads are also very easy to apply and dis-engage too. were both very generous and the swivel and tilt function on the head itself has allowed me to get to many places the upright vacuum could not reach. The Vacuum itself is very sturdy, and lightweight so is great for moving around the house. The bag less cylinder is easy to empty and reattach, making it a very practical piece of kit to use.The unit itself comes with one head, which is a bit tight as normally AEG provide three, but these can be bought separately if needed. That very minor issue aside, this Vacuum can be summed up in one word: Brilliant!

Hope they have the he same model in years to come
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Brilliant all round but you may need an electrical extension because the tidy cable supplied isn’t very long. Washable filter a good extra. If your clumsy or you have big hands, it might not be for you as when picking up, the dust container can easily be caught and the Moter will end up dropping to the floor. Saying that, it does seem quite robust. Just needs getting used to. Gone the days of ear piercing vacuuming.

Compact, easy to clean, easy to use and cleans well even on deep pile carpeting
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Well now, this was surprising. I tested this and then allowed my mother to borrow it for a while and test it independently to see what she thought too. My brother also borrowed it for a while and was pleased with its performance too. Everyone was pleased with its performance. My mum had told me to expect that it would not perform well in terms of suction as it is low power, compact and also a bagless vacuum cleaner of the compact rather than upright variety. However, when both she and I used it we found that the suction was good, whether using the attachments or just the regulation nozzle.I gave it a little less in terms of manoeuvrability as two big wheels on either side I thought made it a little great in terms of its turning circle. On the other hand it is not a heavy unit and it is possible to tug it along easily enough, it does not take especial strength, dexterity and flexibility to use it, either to move it around or to use it to vacuum. We used it on wood floors, carpeted floors, mats, deep pile and short pile and also a car interior and on fixtures and fittings, ie curtains, fabric furniture etc. It was satisfactory on all counts. It is pretty intuitive to set up and operate, however, there are good inlays which explain all, are easy to follow and not long winded or unnecessarily wordy, dull or difficult to follow. The power cable could not be longer without the unit itself having to be larger than it is. This would be good for a variety of settings but for anyone who is living in compact conditions, ie a small flat or apartnment, it would be a great vacuum cleaner. It is also easy enough to maintain and keep clean, the bagless feature is fine and not particularly dusty or dirty to empty between vacuuming jobs. Recommended.

Bagless Cylinder Vacuum
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a fairly small and easy to manoeuvre, with large wheels. It comes with four attachments: a crevice attachment, upholstery, hard floors and carpets. However, annoyingly, there is nowhere to store the attachments, which is very frustrating. I know you can hang these in a bag, but, in my experience, tools get lost if they are not physically attached to the vacuum cleaner. It is easy to empty, but you need to try to empty it outside, as it tends to tip everywhere. I may just be useless at doing this, which is very possible, but I find it really difficult to empty without mess. However, it isn’t a huge deal to empty it straight into the outside bin.Like all modern vacuum cleaners this is very powerful. It is so powerful that, on carpet, it can be really hard to move. I am unsure why this is the case and, while I appreciate the powerful suction does really clean the floor, this would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues, for example, to use easily. That seems a shame when the actual unit is so mobile. Overall, a bit of a disappointment.

Most is intuitive to those who have used a similar type of vacuum cleaner before but some items are not clear and you resort to trial and error. From such a company as AEG, I would have expected a better presentation and this “cheap” approach is followed throughout unfortunately. The good bits...It's reasonably light and small so will be easy to carry about and will fit into a small space in a cupboard. The power cable pulls out manually but is retracted by a large switch on the top of the base unit. The main tube that runs from the brush head to the hose is extendable and so can be adjusted to your height which will be kind to your back. The suction power is high for a small unit and can be regulated with a simple dial on top of the main unit. It has an effective 4 stage filtration system for dust and the filters are washable. The collecting chamber is easily removed and emptied. The not so good bits...There are two cleaning heads supplied, one for hard floors and one for carpets. The head for carpets is a not good. You need the suction power from the base unit at max for carpets but the head does not run easily over the carpet, if sticks and lifts the carpet. I found it necessary to drag it backwards to clean and whilst that lifted some items, it was not an effective way of working. I turned down the suction and that helped but it was less efficient. I tried the hard floor head on carpet and this proved better although it was hard work. The underside of the carpet head has tiny wheels and a stiff brush at the front and with a high power setting, this does not flow easily ove

You have to then open the top, remove the filter, lift out the suction chamber, and then empty again. Then re-assemble. Stupid, stupid design. So emptying is neither quick nor easy.Suction is excellent and was lifting very short piled carpet on its lowest setting. The crevice nozzle/dusting brush is another piece of stupid design. I’m using the crevice nozzle end and the dusting bit (which flips over the end of the crevice nozzle, but also re-positions the opening at right angles to the crevice nozzle) kept flopping over and covering the end I was trying to use.Flex is just 15’ long which I found shorter than any other vacuum I’ve owned as I discovered when it wouldn’t quite reach from my normal socket to the stairs.Fine for carpets and floors. Plenty of power. Emptying could be a lot easier. But there are too many corners cut on the design for ease of use.

AEG Total Home LX5 Bagless Cylinder Vacuum.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This vacuum takes a few minutes to assemble from the box with the assistance of the pictorial instructions. It is lightweight and comes with several attachment tools. The suction is so strong that it can lift up the carpet from the floor but suction strength can be adjusted to four options with a dial for curtains, upholstery wooden floor and carpet. The small crevice tool is great for cleaning skirting boards and window and door frames but makes the machine much noisier. The dust container is large and easy to unclip and reattach by pressing the large button and to empty it there is no need to get your hands dirty as a button triggers the lid to open. The lightweight design makes it easy to move around the house and the mains cable is 5m long which is adequate for medium size rooms. Cleaning the stairs is a bit awkward as there is a lack of a medium sized attachment but the telescopic tube stretches far enough for a long reach. The best points about this vacuum cleaner are the suction strength and the crevice attachment. Negative points are lack of a suitable stair-cleaning attachment and the machine is much noisier when using the crevice attachment. Unlike some vacuum cleaners there is no place on the machine where  attachments can be stored. A confident 4 out of 5 stars.

Super suction vacuum!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This vacuum is quite amazing. It’s ‘A’ rated which is good and looks rather nice. Suction power is brilliant if not a little too brilliant at times it’s felt like I was doing a workout.Easy to put together and well packaged for the price point it’s a good piece of kit which makes easy work of stairways.I can’t give it five stars though. The electrical lead is so short I need to plug into an extender. Supplied with small addition heads for stairs and crevices but not onboard friendly is a disappointment.....I have lost many of these through my children’s enthusiasm and forgetfulness and they are not cheap to repurchase always. Whilst this is wicked on the stairs it’s heavy and doesn’t sit well on mine at all so it’s a hassle to balance and vacuum. There are two heads in total for use on hard floors and carpet. I found the suction so strong and uncomfortable I could barely move this. There does not seem enough variation in suction power I was constantly switching and changing heads.....it became completely stressful at times and exhausting.Available to buy separately is a car kit which I think would be an amazing addition if my gleaming stairs are an example of how well it would work in a car. I will be purchasing the car kit.It has filters galore on board which are easy to clean and reinstall.A solid three, excellent price point, compact but heavy, comes with most of the tools you will need, very well made.

This is labelled as 80 dB, if noise is a factor.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Suction is very good, although it invariably is with a new vacuum, especially a cylinder. Mine came with two heads, a regular head you can flip the bristles in and out for vacuuming over rugs. And a head for wooden flooring. It also came with two tool attachments, a crevice tool that converts into a brush and a small upholstery head for furniture and curtains. The big wheels made it easy to manoeuvre. The cable isn't overlong but adequate for a small house. You can click the head into the stand once you are finished vacuuming. This is energy rating is A. It runs quietly at 80 dB. It is labelled as 28 kW per annum. It comes with the usual two filters. I was pleased to see that both filters are washable. It recommends you wash the main filter once a month, and the hepatic filter on the front once every six months and you leave them both to dry for 24 hours. It has the one click release for the dust cylinder. Also, it has an automatic cable wind.So there doesn't appear to be any spare parts you need to pay out for. That is, if reading the pictograms correctly.

Not good for pet hair or pile carpets
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The basic vacuum cleaner is adequate but it is let down in several areas. There is no crevice tool or powered brush head. The main carpet head tends to draw out streaks of hair or fur, rather than sucking them up.It does have a strong suction whilst being pretty quiet. It is light to manoeuvre in all directions and comes with a long retractable flex. Unfortunately, these do not compensate for the other failings.

Lots of good features - needs a bit more 'finish'?
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a neat and effective little machine that would be perfect for keeping a flat or starter home neat and tidy. The appearance of the cleaner is pleasing and makes a good first impression coming out of the box. Assembly is simple with logical instructions. Suction is powerful for the price you're paying, and it cleans well, even on pet hair. I felt the instructions for emptying and maintaining the filter were bit complex and after following the guidance as well as I could, I didn't feel confident I'd done it properly. I also felt that the machine could have dome with another metre / and a half of flex.
