Great looking machine. Bought mine in February 2019 but had problems with leaking straight away. Contacted the store I bought it from and eventually returned it person as they wanted me to post it although I had disposed of all the packaging. They sent it for repair which took nearly 2 weeks and when I got it back it has the exact same problem. Fits with the colour scheme of my kitchen but the constant leaking is really annoying. Plus the coffee pod thing keeps getting stuck in the housing. I have to get a tool to dislodge it. This cost me €270 in dublin. I usually buy the €100 Delonghi machines and they never give me trouble. Lesson learned.
Stephen WardLoud , and rattling water tank, although brews fantastic coffee!
R M.We've gone through 2 of these in 3 years, both outside the paltry one year guarantee. Great coffee but it wont last, check the guarantee period.Gutted
Amazon CustomerCheap mechanism makes lots of noise when making coffee
Amazon CustomerTotal crap. Have had it 3 months, leaks all the time, even when off. Wish I had taken a closer look at the reviews. Worked fine for a while. Almost returned it once bc of the milk frother but found a missing piece. Wish I had returned it when I had the chance.
JonoPagHad this item less than a year when the seams split ,causing steam to escape so of no more use
millysy0The machine broke within 4 months of purchase, and we cannot return the product to Amazon... not impressed
Jamie GourlayPurchased this six weeks ago and it no longer works! And just as luck would have it there is only a month return policy and no info on returning to manufacturer. Don't buy this machine.
J. H. GaitUnfortunately this machine breaks. Often. The first one we were sent was broken from opening. De'longhi honoured the guarentee and we had a replacement immediately. That was January 20th. It is now May 23rd and the machine's water pump failed again. We have treated the machine well, cleaned it once already, and still it breaks.I cannot recommend this machine based on my experience. I will be purchasing something from a different company and a higher price point in all likelyhood to ensure better quality. I am disappointed in the make, though incredibly happy with amazon's customer service in dealing with this.
Writing CustomerI have given the lowest star because on the first occasion the machine was used, steam gushed out of the top plate and boiling water run from the boiler unit that one puts the coffee holder into. I repeatedly phoned the company as stated on the literature but was not able to obtain an answer.I will now have to seek help from Amazon
AlanDon't buy itI just bought today and it's not working and it's very hot I couldn't even touch it until get a cold
fatenAVOID - bought feb, return window closed 12 March, stopped working 28 March. Frothing attachment broken, and if you open up the steam handle water comes pouring out of everywhere. Previous machine lasted years- this one 6 weeks.
Richard TylerI'm now down to my fifth cup of espresso and cappuccino. It takes some practise to get the amount of espresso and milk exactly right. My first two cups, not only were too cold, but also caused a terrible mess in the kitchen, with milk and coffee all over the place. You can make great coffee with this device, but it takes practise and a routine that you need to follow each time you make it.There are several downsides to this device:1) The water container is made from styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) plastic. This is a dangerous type of plastic and it imparts plastic taste to the water. You can test this by putting water in the container, wait a few minutes and drink directly from the container. To reduce the risk to a bare minimum for myself, I only place water in the container the moment I want to make coffee, and throw away any left over water, not leaving any in the container.2) The frother (plastic) can only be moved sideways, not alongside the machine. This makes it a bit awkward to use.3) The frother has a helper connected to it. While this helper can be removed, for more control over the frothing process, the main frothing tube cannot stay in place under steam pressure and will come off shooting, if the helper is not connected. To prevent it from frothing and just heating the milk, you need to shove it all the way into the milk to the top.4) The frother will drip water continuously while the machine is on5) The tamper (plastic) is almost completely useless. They should have left it out of the design. It's better to not have it, than having a plastic dish sticking out of your espresso device that you can't use. The ideal tamping pressure is 14kg (30 pounds), if you did that on this attached tamper, you'd not only break the tamper, but also the device.6) The distance between the metal plate and the dripper is only enough to fit a espresso cup or a flat cappuccino cup, not any medium or tall cappuccino cups.7) The cup heater plate at the top is passively heated, it will not heat up any cup and is only good for deco
ArmanMakes good coffee (I use the ESE pods which are really simple and good value) The big let down with this machine is that it is very noisy when it is pumping the coffee through. really ot nice when ou are making coffee for friends etc. Haven't managed to find a way to make it quiet by reducing vibrations despite many attempts.
stI have had 2 of these. The first lasted about a year and a half the second 2 weeks over 12 months. They are clearly designed to break after the 12 month warranty. Just tried to repair this one and it's falling to bits inside. Off to find a decent quality coffee machine that's not a Delonghi
M. TattersallI was divided about this product. I like the retro look of it. And if you can get it to work, it makes a mean espresso. But about 60% it simply drips small droplets of coffee into your cup. I'm not sure if it is something I'm doing wrong or the product. If you are motivated to buy this product because it looks cool, you will probably assume it is me and not the product ;) If you read the 1-star reviews for this product most of these unhappy reviewers complain about the product leaking water. In particular, it is the nozzle on the side that leaks water. But for many happy customers their nozzle does not leak. Mine does leak - a lot! I have to keep a small jar underneath it while it's on to collect the water. Otherwise it's all over my counter. (I know - it's not the end of the world - it's just a little annoying that's all.) So in the end, this product is a gamble. You may get one that works and does not leak (my friend has one and his does not leak), and you will enjoy the wonderful espresso it makes, or you may be disappointed waiting for droplet espresso, wiping down your counter everyday. It's a coin toss.
Last on the MoonI won this machine in the raffle at work, I had to admit at 1st I was quite impressed, it does take longer to make a coffee than other filter machines etc, as it is just like making a proper cappuccino to which you add hot water for an american or frothy steamed milk for a latte etc. The main issue was after a couple of months the steam/water spout on the side of the machine started dribbling water all over the kitchen counter, even when the tap on the top which operated the water/steam is fully turned off, as tight as I can get it. So I obtained a copy of the receipt from work to register the machine for warranty online and reported the problem to them. The promptly sent Parcelforce to collect the machine, recomend you still have the original box and packaging. When it returned I could tell the had changed something as it sounded different but it still after a couple of coffees it started to dribble again. So I reported the issue to them and the again did the same and on return it is still not fixed. So I have to say I am reporting this to them AGAIN, and I would recommend people stay away from buying this machine.
David MilnerThis is the first review I have written on Amazon but had to share that we have also had awful problems with leaking. It looks great, when it worked made great coffee but now I am left with an unusable machine, the water literally pours out. Will never purchase another DeLonghi product. Please don't gamble on this and waste your money.
AnthonyThis machine was really disappointing. Even if I use excellent quality coffee, it just tastes weak and bleu from this machine. Other reviewers have also mentioned that its noisy and leaks, which is also true, but that wouldn't bother me if I could get a decent cup of coffee out of it. I paid 120 for this machine at the time of purchase and I would say it isn't even worth half that amount. If you want rich flavourful espresso, go with another machine.
MhdAlthough I bought this about 18 months ago I've only used it a handful of times. The steamer on this product is already broken (no idea how, just simply doesn't let out steam anymore), and I can find no information on if this can be returned for repair. I thought it was covered for two years, but can't find any information.Don't buy - go with a cheaper one that will still be better quality.
