Reduces ironing time!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is my second Laura Star iron and I love it. The first I had for 10 years and during that time it did not let me down, and this one is excellent. It's a little bit noisy, when it takes in more water, but this is a very small irritation, as it halves the time of my ironing. Excellent product.

Shoddily made
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

When it works it is wonderful: Alas it is shoddily made and as a tendency to fall apart. The iron itself is covered by some plastic stuff that melts andsplits. The grip fell apart on the second time I used it and it took an awful long time to get it repaired. Right now mine is out of use as the pump did break down. The iron sole is very difficult to get clean. So no, I am not going to buy a new Laurastar: Much to expensive for what it has to offer. But I did love its design.

Awful Iron. Do not buy at any costs. It broke after about 1 month. Steam button got stuck. Plus it stopped steaming and sprayed water all over the board. Got it fixed at Laurastar which was a laborious process. Then after 2nd ironing session after it had been fixed it broke again. Steam was stuck on continuously at blast pressure rendering it unusable.Very unreliable, funky ergonomics. Don't bother.

Water leaking like the worst bottom quality iron I ever had!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Brand new it has NEVER worked properly and unfortunately I missed the return window as I was travelling for work. I would return it immediately.I have asked for repair but I should not need to repair a two month old top quality steam generator, should I? Stay away from it.

Not as good as earlier model
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

not as good as the previous model, doesn't seem to iron anywhere near as good as my earlier model which in hindsight i should've just had serviced by Laurastar. On the plus side the improvements in refilling make using it much easier and it looks funky.

I love this machine! Really!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I love this machine! It has a pretty hefty price tag but is worth every penny. The steam is completely controllable and is really effective so you can whizz through a huge pile of ironing in a fraction of the time. I had a Laurastar ironing system for years, which was also great, but have had to downsize since moving house. I am in love all over again. This steam generator is small and compact, but really produces all the steam necessary to smooth away creases. Jeans - no problem; shirts - a breeze; sheets - quickly done. It is ready for use in just 3 minutes, and switches itself off if left unused for 10 minutes. The iron itself is light - so easy to use, and the pulsing steam is wonderfully effective - a real plus. The retractable cord is another plus. There is a detachable special foot plate to use for silk or fabrics that might 'shine' if ironed with the regular iron. And being so compact and light you can easily steam curtains etc in situ. An all round winner!

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER BUYING THIS OVERPRICED RUBBISH!!! It's noisy, ugly, the flex leading from the iron to the unsightly generator is anything but flexible and if you set the iron on the highest setting then i guarantee you'll be scalded as i was from the steam. In short, a pile of crap.

Looks great, works great, but pricey
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The shallow bit first: this looks great. I'm not sure irons have ever 'looked cool' before, but this one certainly does. It looks the business. But the price tag is a lot of coin to put down just because something looks good - does it do the job? Well, yes. If you haven't had a steam generator iron before then they are a bit of a revelation. The iron bit you hold is far lighter than the irons you will have used previously, but the steam destroys wrinkles with easy glides. Either heavy or delicate fabrics are smoothed with ease. Points for having a sensible length cord. That said, this has been my experience with the other steam generator irons I've tried, and some of those are much cheaper than the Laurastar. So I can't fault it for it's job, and it looks great, but if you're on a budget you can get better value, and for that it drops a star.

Lives up to the eye watering price tag

This is top dollar price, marketed as a high-end product. It's meant to be the Rolls-Royce of irons. So does it live up to the billing. Oh yes, indeed it does.Very smartly packaged, comes wrapped in foam rather than polystyrene. There's an instruction booklet the size of war and peace (don't be put off, only a few pages are needed). All presented in a nice neat fabric bag.Set-up instructions are easy. Stick a filter in the reservoir, fill with water, and you're good to go.It's really really simple to use. There's 2 heat settings, a cooler one for delicates, and a hotter setting for everything else (wool upwards). There's a trigger on the handle of the iron itself to release steam, which can be set at pulse or manual. Other than that, there are no other settings. There's a light and sound to tell you when to fill the reservoir, and another for when the filter needs to be changed. You empty and descale whenever you change the filter. The machine itself is quite compact, about the size of a small bin in an office. It looks very smart, shiney black, and classy/well-made. The power cord retracts into the device. The steam hose loops round and stores easily on the main chamber. It sits on my floor with easily enough length in both power cord and steam hose to reach where you need.On switching on, the water chamber lights up making it look a little like a swimming pool in a playboy mansion.Ironing is a breeze. Go over once with steam, then once without. It's super quick and easy. And the results are amazing ... even compared to decent quality mid-range steam generators. You really can notice the difference in results. There are 2 one-star reviews on here, which I can understand if you spend that much and it doesnt live up to expectations. So far I've had no issues whatsoever with the switch, it seems robust. And it does produce a lot of steam, not particularly much more than other steam generators I've used, but the whole point of this is that it .....ahhh ...... generates steam!!Overall, it is effortless, gives professio

A Few Things Every Good Iron Should Have
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

DOES IT DO THE IRONING?=======================Well almost, it's a beautiful machine which goes through a pile of ironing in no time at all. It looks very pretty but feels like it does the ironing on an industrial scale.DOES IT INCLUDE THE IRONING BOARD?==================================I wasn't sure from the pictures if it'd include the ironing board. It doesn't.COMPACT=======It's very compact for what it can do. It's very easy to move around the house. (but it has no wheels) It's much lighter than it looks. A few KGs.STORAGE=======It stores away easily. A lot of thought has gone into the storage. It's just so neat.GOLDILOCKS IRON===============Not that Goldilocks would iron, she'd be too busy stealing porridge or trespassing in people's beds. I mean this is a very well designed iron: not too heavy, not too light. Just perfectCORD LENGTH===========It's fine, occasionally I've come across some irons with such a short cord it's impractical. This also feature an automatic winder.SOLE PLATE==========It's light and very easy to manoeuvre.IRONING QUALITY===============I tested it with more delicate items and the more resistant jeans. I only had to pass over the material once. The ironing/steaming of clothes on a hanger was simple too. (although I must concede that this is not a feature that I'll use much.)TWO STEAMS ONE IRON===================Two options: continuous or pulse.WELL MADE=========I've read the earlier reviews and have to say I've had no problems or issues whatsoever. (I'll update in a few months)It's solid, irons with ease and is a true Rolls Royce of irons.HOW WELL DOES THIS IRON GET THROUGH CRUMPLED CLOTHES====================================================The greater the amount of steam the quicker and easier it should be to iron with. There isn't a correlation between the wattage and "steaminess"In fact some premium steam irons that state they are "powerful" don't produce more steam than some much much cheaper irons. The Laurastar produces loads of steam and got through the pile of ironing in no time at

Overpriced with a persistent fault.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

A brand to avoid - an incredibly overpriced lifestyle product which has a design fault with the thermostat dial. Had mine for a week when the thermostat dial dropped off. It's 'held on' by a poxy spring and is impossible to put back. Unit was sent back to the manufacturer for repair (didn't buy from Amazon, unfortunately) and returned in three weeks. The 'repair' only lasted two days as the button fell off again. I'm no engineer but this was bound to happen. Contacted the manufacturer and they agreed to replace it. However, this was not very satisfactory as they insisted on a courier (DPD) picking up my faulty unit first. I would have been logical to send the replacement and do the switch then. Presumably they don't trust the consumer. Anyway when the nice DPD fellow came he told me that he picks up more faulty Laurastar units than he delivers!!! I'm now waiting for the replacement. Shoddy!
