nGood value and good battery life.
Lindsey M.I'll be short and sweet with this review. The phone is great and gets 4* because the battery life will easily get you through a day and even 2 days for very light users. But the lack of fingerprint scanner, exceptionally poor camera means that this is a niche phone and I couldn't keep it because I bought it from Amazon Warehouse and the scratches turned out to be worse than advertised. Thankfully Amazon refunded me. If you get this new, and know it's limitations you'll love it. If, like me, you think you'll be able to cope without a fingerprint scanner you'll quickly find out you can't.
Calvin GatesVery pleased with this phone, battery is great
Mr Peter BradshawI’ve had this phone for several months now (on the Virgin Mobile network) and have to say that I hardly found any downsides so far. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros:
• Battery life: I’m normally getting 3 days out of a single charge!
• Appearance, weight, and screen are all great.
• I’ve never had ANY glitches with the operating system or phone as a whole.
• Affordability – I’m so glad I didn’t pay hundreds more on a Samsung or iPhone.
• Longevity – a review of the battery indicated that it will have a good long life (in terms of years).
• Fixability – LG phones get good ratings on IFixIt (while the Samsung S7 gets a very low score). This is important to me since I want a phone that will last several years.
• Features on Android 6.0 are great – for example, Google synching of photos. I believe it’s better than Apple.
Cons:
• The camera is not top of the range. But honestly, it’s still quite good. See example photos below. For any photos that look a bit dull, a one-click “enhance” makeover (on MS or Google photos) will make them pop.
• No fingerprint reader – this doesn’t bother me. Having to enter a PIN is actually a good deterrent from constantly looking at my phone ;)
I’m also giving the phone 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact. Here are some reasons for this score:
• I looked up three ethical consumerism guides (Ethical Consumer, The Good Shopping Guide, and Shop Ethical) and LG gets good scores. All three sites have this ranking priority: Fairphone > LG > iPhone > Samsung.
• Reading an Amnesty report on conflict minerals (specifically, cobalt – used in batteries) I got the sense that LG were more transparent than Samsung and Huawei. No phone is perfect in this respect – Fairphone is attempting to change things – but I feel that LG are making as much progress as Apple (perhaps more).
• As mentioned above, LG gets a good score for fixability on IFixIt and the battery should last for several years. These are important for phone lon
