bit slow boiling
Donn TurnerWe bought this kettle a few weeks ago and have nothing but trouble with it. Basically, it turns itself off before it is boiling, not even halfway and this was from taking it out of the box. I eventually managed to get it working by putting cold water in it and turning it on and repeating process. today it has gone again and the blue light just will not stay on. This is the first Breville i have had and definitely the last. Unfortunately we have lost receipt but have gone back to old Philips kettle which i was going to throw out. Nightmare!!
Barry CalverIt worked well for a couple of years with light usage but then started leaking out of bottom.
Blue Oysteralmost as soon as we got this we found the handle gets very hot when you pour water out after it boils. It feels as if the steam is coming out the seam on the handle and I am always very worried it will burn me so I have to use an oven glove to pour water.Breville does not want to know
cassieThe lid doesn't stay up on its own when filling the kettle up with water, it has to be heldup, which I think is a design fault. Other than that a quick and efficient boiler, pours well.
R M KAbolute Rubbish. works well for a short while the the Switch Burns Out.
Nigel John Cooperdoes not sit very well on base
Mrs. J. R. GrahamHad to return kettle as description false
Mrs Pamela HornettI have had three of these kettles over the years. The first two were great, my favourite kettles ever, hence the reason for buying the same again in June 2014.The base of the kettle is now leaking water everywhere and I'm very disappointed with it. My love affair with the Breville JK46 is now over and I am off today to buy a new one which is hopefully, as good looking but more effective than it's predecessor. Very disappointed!
LuciesmummyYou get what you pay for, fairly reasonable quality kettle for the price. Only problem is the Breville logo does come off easily when wiped with a damp cloth to keep clean.
Mrs L MilburnLike others have reported, this kettle started to leak from the water level window after one and a half years. A few months ago the switch in the lid also malfunctioned, but managed to repair this. Electrical connection to switch mechanism had come loose. Bought elsewhere and no longer have receipt so will replace with something more sturdy.
ElectronicFurIt boiled fast and everything but within the 6 months of having it, it blew 2 fuses and when it happened for the last time we went to replace the fuse but it wouldn't work even with a new fuse. It's okay
kerry salisburyI only had this second Breville kettle for just over 15 months. It started building scale all around the water windows on the outside (!) of the kettle in less than a year of use. I now came back from four days away to a puddle as the kettle is seriously leaking through the base and the base of the handle. This only becomes obvious when the kettle goes completely cold over night or longer period of not being used. My first Breville kettle had a similar fate.A very disappointing product with such promise as to its design and ease of use but so let down by cheap and shabby materials and workmanship. I wish Breville would get their act together.
GreyTeeI have had this kettle for just over a year and its only just started leaking! At first I couldn't quite figure out where the leak was. There is definately a hole or holes between the kettle and the base, as I take off the kettle to pour out the hot water, there is a pool of water left behind on the base near the electrical component! If brand new, assume it will have no leakage, but they will develop. I only wished I had read reviews on it before I purchased, so this is a great forum for finding out.

MushroomNice looking Kettle, very unstable on base when boiling. It rocked from side to side even when filled to the maximum line.
ChrisBWe bought this as a replacement for a similar model which we had used for a few years. This model although looking similar, is not the same as the earlier model. It does not have the facility and light for continuous reboiling. It is not as well designed as the earlier model. It is more difficult to replace on the charging base because the base is deeper. It cannot be filled through the spout. the hinge on the refilling area came apart first time of use. It does snap back into place but not as robust as the earlier model. Why cannot manufacturers leave well alone when they already have a good product.Change for change sake or maybee they have found a way of producing it more cheaply!
Brian 101Have used the JK46 kettle twice running for a a few years before the latest purchase from Amazon.
Liked the shape and performance but both previouse kettles suffered from leakage problem after two to three years.
My latest purchase from Amazon had problem with the lid. It was unable to open fully. A little DIY with a file soon sorted out the problem.
Received no problem with my order and delivery except when I used "Middx"the first time and "Middlesex" the second time instead of sticking to the same and was rejected. It was my first purchase from Amazon.

Rob LHad two of these. First one the lid catch jammed - only way to get the lid to open was to prise it open and break the latch mechanism. Now the replacement has done the same. Clearly a design fault. Not good value if only last a year or so.
DaveThe Breville JK46 white plastic jug kettle combines modern design with high performance. It is high wattage--3 kilowatt (kW)--keeping the boiling time short to save you time and has an immersed element. It has a capacity of 1.7 litres (l) and so can accommodate about six to eight cups--ideal for families. The JK46 is designed with large dual water windows indicating water level to help you fill the kettle to the desired amount. The switch illuminates blue on boiling giving your kettle a sophisticated style. The kettle is fitted with a non-slip, 360° rotational base for left and right-handed usage and cord storage to keep your kitchen worktop fuss-free.
