Good coffee but usability is so so
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

First of all, it makes great coffee. That’s pretty good news. What is off-putting though is it’s usability .— the coffee pot is build such that you can’t really get all coffee out. If about a cup is left you have to nearly turn it on it’s head.— you kind of have to keep rinsing and cleaning the various pieces of the machine. It’s easy to get access (good engineering) but my previous grinder was simply build so you didn’t have to.— the access to the water tank is too tight (For me) to pour with a cup without spillingOverall comes across as build by engineers.

Not very forgiving
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I bought this to replace a previous model which had served me well for ten years. However, this version just isn't as good. I love the thermos flask jug, but reassembling it after cleaning isn't forgiving - if you even get the handle of the grounds basket in the wrong place, you end up with it overflowing. You also have problems if you put too much coffee in the basket, as it seems to clog and again, overflows.

Cheap Grinder, Decent Coffee Maker
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

As other reviews have stated, this is not a quality burr grinder as advertised. It is a cheap metal blade. I do not expect it to last more than a couple months of grinds. So I have already started using pre-ground coffee. It makes fine coffee, but I would rather have a better coffee maker with a separate grinder.

We have had several of this model over the years and whilst they are great when they are working and behaving
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This was a replacement under warranty for one which "blew up" within a year of purchase. This replacement has given continual but intermittent issues in the 6 weeks we have had it.. it is prone to leaking, for no obvious or apparent reason and "Her Majesty" is fed up with it! We have had several of this model over the years and whilst they are great when they are working and behaving, they are a "P-I-T-A" when they are misbehaving..It is particularly prone to leaking when using ready-ground coffee, but there seems to be no very obvious reason for this, and we don't overfill either the water tank or the amount of coffee used. Quite infuriating!

Had to return as kept clogging. The design of having the hopper inside is poor as the steam gets to the grinds and clogs up, resulting in very weak, non-drinkable coffee coloured water

Very Very disappointed
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Arrived last Friday. Made coffee using the normal beans we have been using for some time. Very disappointing coffee, thin and almost tasteless, have to put this down to the fact that this is not a burr grinder, even when using the maximum amount of beans recommended. Thin this was a waste of money. Our old Cuisinart burr grinder had given up the ghost which is why I bought this for work. Will have to re think as this not at all satisfactory.

Don't buy it
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Just terrible - it creates tepid coffee which is far too cool to drink. After grinding and producing coffee, it seems that the thermos needs to stand on the hot plate for the coffee to be heated properly, but the hot plate deactivates too soon. I ended up producing a little bit of coffee initially to active the hot plate, then brewing proper coffee, and ultimately just ended up microwaving the coffee it produced. Just awful. It's embarrassing to make people fresh coffee and give them cold cups - I've thrown the unit away. Don't buy it!

Noisy and messy
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have finally given up on this machine. Too many times has the machine overflowed during the brewing process, causing hot coffee and grounds to run out all over the worktop. The filter is too small, so you can't brew a full jug of strong coffee, you have to fill the jug 2/3rds full with a full 10 scoops of coffee in the filter. Put any more than 10 scoops in the filter and it overflows.Brewing using the grinder function is deafening. It works but cleaning the machine afterwards is a lengthy task.Going back to a simple filter coffee maker with replaceable filters.

Complete waste of money!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Unfortunately bought this 6 months ago, definitely the most expensive and useless piece of kit! It was bought to replace our 14 year old Rowenta thermal jug coffee make which never gave us a moments bother. This is messy, the buttons stuck and today it has finally bitten the dust, the grinder doesn't work at all and the rest works intermittently. Buyer beware! really not sure that it is worth sending back, definitely not a coffee maker for me.

A car crash of a design!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

A car crash of a design, with half baked fixes offered by the manufacturer. Problem: Coffee NOT hot enough, pice of paper in the box saying to preheat the the coffee pot first! Ok how do you do that then when using the timer function? Ok the pot, the problem its not a hot plate or a proper thermal flask because of the fixation with using the timer function to get coffee into a pot with the lid on, the pot design is a compromise which simply doesn't work.Very noisy grinder would wake everyone in the house if used on the timer in the morning. I am surprised this poor effort got to market. I want my money back please.

Great in theory, not so much in practice
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

My mom was insistent on getting us a quality coffee-maker for a house-warming present (she knows how much I like a good cup of coffee). Until we got this, we'd just been using instant - it was quick and easy in the morning. After much research, we decided to get this one with the idea that it would be nice to just wake up to the coffee and we could do all the work in the evenings.Great in theory, not in practice. The other reviews complaining about the coffee not being hot enough are true (and I'm not one that's particular about the temperature). The only way to get a properly hot cup is if you rinse the carafe with hot water prior to making the coffee - which entirely negates using the program feature. If, however, you rinse the carafe with hot water to warm it up first, the coffee is lovely and stays warm for a long while inside. As a result, this has all become a bit too much for a couple of cups of coffee every morning. It is great for after-dinner coffee when we have guests though :)

Hugely disappointing
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

We bought this coffee maker in order to have freshly brewed coffee (2 mugs) first thing in the morning (by using the programmed brewing facility) with the intention of still having hot coffee (another 2 mugs) ready for use 3-4 hours later for mid morning break. Sadly, despite returning the first unit because the coffee wasn't hot enough (Cuisinart Customer Service suggested the first unit might have had a faulty thermostat) and obtaining a replacement, there was no appreciable improvement. We even measured the temperature of the freshly brewed coffee (using a digital thermometer) and at 74C, it was 'hot' but certainly not 'piping hot'.On the plus side, the unit brews fabulous coffee, with filtered water (filter in unit), and is just about hot enough if you pour it and drink it straight-away. And because is uses a thermal flask, there is no question of stewing the coffee if it sits for a while, but you would then need to add warm milk or possibly warm up your coffee in a microwave to get it warm enough. Far too much hassle! The instructions say that to keep your coffee hotter longer, you should first warm the jug by filling with boiling water. Fine, if you don't want piping hot, automatically brewed fresh coffee first thing in the morning. This rather defeats the object of having a programmable brew time. However, if you brew the maximum 10 cups you do get a better result; the larger volume of hot brewed coffee then needs to give up less of its heat to warm up the jug (as an alternative to pre-heating with boiling water). So, if you want a large quantity of excellent, freshly-brewed, hot coffee for drinking now or within the next 1-2 hours, by all means choose a Cusisinart coffee maker, but go for a simpler machine and forget about the programmer.

Nice coffee maker but wouldn't recommend for one person
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I got this Coffee Maker for my girlfriend a few weeks back. She had been talking about being able to wake up to the smell of coffee every morning. Did some research and came across this product. Got to say although, it looks abosulutely fantastic and brews coffee perfectly, I had to send it back. My girlfriend is the only one that drinks coffee in the house and although this machine allows you to brew 2 to 10 cups, we found that if you only brewed for 1 person (2-4 cups), the coffee did not stay hot, it was just warm. The only way to actually keep the coffee hot was to either to brew at least 8 cups, or brew the coffee with hot water which defeats the purpose programming the machine and waking up to fresh made coffee if you have to go pre-heat the water first.Additionally, the idea was that she could wake up to the smell of coffee, because this machine uses a thermal insulated carafe, you could not notice any aroma whatsoever. Also the carafe is a pain to use if you only have 2-4 cups of coffee in there. It's almost as if you need to completely turn the carafe upside down to get it out.Other than that, it brews/grinds perfectly, it's easy to use and clean, and looks great on the counter. So there is it, go for it if you plan on consuming 8 cups a day, otherwise it is a bit of a waste for one person.

Using fresh, good quality beans is the foundation to a perfect cup of coffee and grinding the beans immediately before brewing helps to retain the delicate oils and aromas contained inside the beans. The built in ceramic burr grinder presses the beans between its plates for a perfectly even grind, extracting maximum flavour without causing friction which can affect the taste of your coffee.

After grinding the beans to the perfect coarseness, the hot water passes slowly, without pressure through the beans ensuring that every drop of water comes into contact with the coffee grinds. The result is a carafe of hot, beautifully rounded coffee with real depth of flavour.
